As any avid Met Gala fan would tell you, the fashion doesn’t end at the staircase. Some of the best looks of the night don’t appear until after hours. While some stars like Kendall Jenner kept to the dress code (twice!) —others went all out in fashion we never could have expected, like Janelle Monáe wearing Area’s newest collection. And honorable mention to Tyla, who completely transformed her Balmain look by having designer Olivier Rousteing cut the dress in half, turning it into a stunning mini.
